Friend me....

Saturday Centus time, a themed writing meme. This week's challenge is to write 100 words to add to the prompt started by Jenny Matlock from off on my tangent.

The writing prompt is in (bold) itallics...

Driving six hours is a long time on the road.

Six hours spent singing car-aoke and taking in the picturesque scenery, but mostly reminiscing about the good times.

But those days were long gone and my mind was in a different place now.

Or was it?

My pulse quickened as I passed the road sign which read "Medford 27 miles."

.....5280 feet, or 63,630 inches till I hit town.

I’d calculated it once and never forgot the numbers.

Here I was about to crash Medford High's class of 2010’s 25th reunion… I’d been keeping track of all the goons since the 9th grade.

Facebook,

Myspace,

There wasn’t much I didn’t know about their lives.

Scary when you think about it.

I freshened up in the car and then it was time to make my grand entrance.

Josh Brown took my offered hand.

Searching my face as he pumped it up and down.

“I’m sorry” he said “I don’t recognize you.”

  3. There must be some kind of big transformation that you weren't recognized or else Josh Brown didn't keep up with facebook etc. lol

  4. When I read that he referred to them as "goons" (and IS it a he?), I figured something bad was going to happen.

Add the social network lurking, and I'm glad I didn't go to that reunion, cuz something awful is going to happen.

  5. Ha! When I went to my 30th, the women hadn't changed but the men...oh my! They really aged and were difficult to recognize. Love this!

  6. The older you get, the more enticing class reunions are. Maybe it is because we all want second chances. This person seems to be wanting to "get even" or something though.

  7. This begs to be continued.....oh the places you could go! You left us all wanting more.

  8. You definitely have to continue this! It sounds like it's going to be a doozy of a party :) I like your use of the prompt, especially the first line. Who measures the number of feet to their hometown? Great job. Kat

  9. Nice! You made want more of the story. Is he a stalker? A loner? Love this.

  10. You have me on the edge of my seat! What's going on there? Good writing and a little bit of a different take from most of the others. I like it/

    Thanks..........cj

  12. Wow! Nicely done! The suspense is palpable. I agree with the others, that you shouldn't let such a great beginning sit idle when the rest of the story begs to be told! Excellent job.

  15. Oh wow! I can just picture your character's face after that last line. Here he knows everything about everyone and isn't even recognized. Is he going to blow a fuse? Snap? Cry? I agree with everyone, this really makes you want to hear more.

  16. I love this. I think I'm weird cuz I took this in a total different direction in my head.

I just figured it was because nobody puts up their "real" pictures on those social networking sites.

We never show our wrinkles or our gray hair or the 20, 40, 60 pounds we carry around like a boyscout merit badge for eating!

I did enjoy your twist, though, even though my mind twisted it even farther!

Thank you! Wonderful to see you Beth!

Some bloggers write "gimme me some love".... as far as I'm concerned, I'd love some love, but I'd even take some hate, some expressions of your disgust, your outrage, mild irritation, sheer joy...whatever, I can take it, honestly I can. Just please (please) leave a comment or two and let me know what you think. Merci.
